Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements as per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed qualified.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed only if qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved medical or osteopathic school.
Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
Residency training: Completion of approved residency leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency must be approved by the VA or equivalent, including non-US programs with five years of verified U.S. practice.
Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) under supervision.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting, and charting.
Duties
The Physiatrist will evaluate patients referred by other providers to determine rehabilitation needs and progress.
Perform procedures such as EMG/NCV, trigger point injections, joint injections, botulinum toxin injections, interventional procedures, and spinal manipulation as indicated.
Report to the Chief of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service.
Serve as a clinical resource for Rehabilitation services, with demonstrated clinical and administrative expertise to lead a multidisciplinary team.
